WSET Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Wines, Spirits and other Alcoholic Beverages with The Wine Academy
Our most popular course, the Intermediate Course is an introductory level qualification intended for those who have little or no previous knowledge of wines, spirits and other alcoholic beverages. It is suitable wherever a basic level of product knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example in the customer service and sales functions of the hospitality, retailing and wholesaling industries. It is also useful for those who have a general interest in the subject.
Holders of the WSET Intermediate Certificate will be able to interpret the labels of the major alcoholic beverages of the world, give basic guidance on appropriate selection and service, as well as knowing the principles of wine tasting and food and wine matching. Knowledge or experience to WSET Intermediate Certificate level is a requirement for those wishing to prepare for the WSET Advanced Certificate qualification.
The day release course is taught over a period of three weeks with one full day’s lecture per week, with the examination on the morning of the 4th day. The evening courses are taught over seven weeks with one two and a half hour lecture per week, and the examination in the eighth session. Assessment consists of a closed book examination lasting one hour, consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions.
Home study is essential and at least 16 hours are recommended to complement the lecture series.
